Old customer joining SKY as new one to be benefitted!!

Options
I have been using Sky multiroom (One room Sky+ and other room standard Sky box) for £17+ £10= £27 and sky broadband mid £5 giving altogether £32 a month.

My Sky+ contract was due to expire in June 2008 and multiroom in Nov 08.

I was wondering if I could get a Sky+ box to replace my standard digibox.

So, I phoned them today and told them that I wanted to cancel the contract.....

Initially he told me that he could give my full package for £3 a month for three months. Then I asked him if I could get a free Sky+ box for my second room.

'Let me check...we could give you sky plus box and installation altogether for £90' ; 'Let me correct myself ..I read it wrong...if you do not want to take a + box, I could make monthly payment £27 for three months'!!!

I was astonished!!!

I told them I would come back later.

My question is
1) If I canel my sky contract, would I still be able to use my Sky + box (standard box is already not working) and view free channels?

2) I like their broadband. If I cancel the sky contract (TV) but want to use broadband for £5 a month, is it possible?

3) If I cancel the contract and want to join sky again via Introduce a friend offer say after 1/2 weeks time,Can I do it?I think if I join them via Introduce a friend offer, I could get £50.00 MS voucher via QUIDCO and (Online Sky multirom http://mysky.sky.com/portal/site/skycom/shop/products?rds=true STANDARD DIGIBOX FREE AND SKY PLUS BOX £75 WITH FREE INSTALLATION)?
4)Have they got any rules like old customers can not join sky as new customers for a certain period of time?

I know it is complex but I would be grtaeful if you could help me.

Thanks in advance.

Yes however you would not be able to use the recording or playback facility.

    2) I like their broadband. If I cancel the sky contract (TV) but want to use broadband for £5 a month, is it possible?

No, you must be a Sky TV subscriber to qualify for the broadband service.

    3) If I cancel the contract and want to join sky again via Introduce a friend offer http://mysky.sky.com/portal/site/sky...ducts?rds=true STANDARD DIGIBOX FREE AND SKY PLUS BOX £75 WITH FREE INSTALLATION)? say after 1/2 weeks time,Can I do it?I think if I join them via Introduce a friend offer, I could get £50.00 MS voucher via QUIDCO and (Online Sky multirom

Yes but no recording features or instant re-wind etc.

    2) I like their broadband. If I cancel the sky contract (TV) but want to use broadband for £5 a month, is it possible?
Nope you need to be a Sky subscriber to have Sky Broadband (your also in a 12 month contract for the BB)

Nope you wouldnt be able to benefit from this & it takes 30 days to cancel your account completely.

4)Have they got any rules like old customers can not join sky as new customers for a certain period of time?
They most certainly do.... you have to be away from sky for over 12 months before you can benefit from new customer offers

I know it is complex but I would be grtaeful if you could help me.

    Thanks in advance.

Somebody told me that I can get the new contract in my wife's name but he is not sure about the time period.

Same address, same telephone but different account holder....is it possible?

You can start a new contract before your old one expires but it needs to be in someone elses name, this is what we have been doing for the last 3 years, each year has been half price subs :)

4)Have they got any rules like old customers can not join sky as new customers for a certain period of time?

After a year you are considered a new customer again

Does this one year mean the period after cancelling the contract or it is the total time from starting the contract (one year contract)?

We cancelled with the hope of getting offered free sky+ but that didnt happen. So we cancelled and then I re-joined under my mum and dad as a referee and so got sky+ for £30. But ever since Ive rejoined in my name, OH gets leaflets all the time asking him to go back sometimes they say he can have free sky+ and £50 M&S vouchers too. So personally Id cancel and wait for the vouchers. They started pretty quick, bout 2/3 weeks after he cancelled. Oh and they also ring up all the time too, but I say he doesnt live here anymore ;)

 Im very surprised, OH is getting leaflets and phone calls pretty much twice a week, maybe more some weeks. We were only with them for a year as well on 6 mix(and that was half price for a year too), so not as if they got much money out of us. Oh well, OP might be better to wait for a month if you dont get anything, go on referers board and get refered.
