Council Tax discount

Hi. As a single occupier I get a 25% disount on my council tax bill. A friend of mine lives with her 14 year old daughter. Does anyone now if she would be eligable for the single person discount as the other occupier is under 18?
I will try ringin the council but find it difficult to fit in with my job so wondered if anyone here knew.

She would be eligible to claim 25%, AFAIK they are only classed as adults after 18, as this age is the age they become liable for council tax.

Hi. thanks. that is what i assumed but it wasnt clear in any of their paperwork.

They would not be classed as adults for council tax if they are students. Therefore even if they are over 18 but at university, you can still get the single person discount and if they live away from home in a property exclusively occupied by students, they do not have to pay it themselves either.
