Mine is wallpaper and cushions. I am having the red, although I love the blackcurrant too. Maybe I should get a caravan and get the brackcurrant for that! :rotfl:

well it took me 3 days to pimp out my caravan. its red, black and white inside (instead of the horrid brown!) it looks really impressive and when we are not going away in it we are gonna use it as guest quarters! its so plesant now. i was well happy to pick up some fablon on the carboot for a pound yesterday. otherwise i've been getting it at wilkos for 3.50. ive used a lot though! lol.

i bought some curtains for 8.99 at B&M and cut them up and re-sewed for all my curtains (they are black with flowers - very nice and perfect fit) havent sorted out material for the seat covers but got some great throws 8.99 at B&M which are soft fur/white. havent sorted the floor yet. but i got some freebie wallpaper from B&Q (as samples) i got this border stuff which was like stick on flowers (just peel and stick) and looks excellent on the white surfaces! (its black flowers) i also found some mirrored words at B&M for 60p each (love, sexy and kiss) and stuck these on the cupboard as an effective decoration.

also found some good camping pieces in B&M.

shame i cant show you the pics! good luck with your caravan.
    Now living within my means!
  • have nt got a caravan but have got a very very old bone shaker campervan which needed/ still has needs everything on it . our seats were thread bear when we bought the camper so we had a look online for companies that covered the seats but these cost you so we found a lady selling end roll materials at a country fayre and bought a big roll of her for 20quid we had small sewing machine and have been gradually recovering the seats since last June if your a novice needlework like us it is a slow process and the sewing is nowhere near perfect even with a sewing machine however seats look beter thanthey did . we have filled our van up with second hand shower mat from EbAY which was about 2 quid .we cleaned out and serviced the fridge and oven ourselves .we have just purchased to front seats from ebay for 40 quid but they dont fit so our settee indoors was falling to bits well the cushions were so we replaced the cushions and screwed on to the settee, its a wooden frame these seats and do you know what its the most cook omfortable settee iv ever sat on .we turned our camper into our own second little home with bookshelve cupboards are filled with cartons of milk and tinned nonperishables ready to go away.we fill bathroom cabinet up with natural cosmetics lavender soaps and last time we went away hada bit of a campervan spa wewere parked up by a stream in the coutryside sitting reading having pamper treatments really good funmost utensils were what we didnt use from home not really bought that much for it except a sea fishing rod from lidl to go in the cupboard because apparently the boys are going to catch us some big Mackeral so i am looking forward to this .:o
  • be carefull driving its easy to forget you ve got it on the back take it easy and take your time its easy to get a sway on i was bought up with caravan holidays and seen many a caravaner driving far to fast and end up in the ditch.its no safer with a campervan because they are tall and sometimes we forget about trees hence a couple of small dents in the roof and it don t help having a hubby that whilst driving sometimes takes his eyes of the road to chat and really makes me jump out my skin nervous neris aint the word but all said and done even with it being a ropey old van we think CAMPING IS ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT WIDE OPEN SPACES THE GREAT OUTDOORS AND TODAY GOT ROAD TAX FOR OURS SO SHALL BE OFF FOR EASTER AND CANT WAIT HAVE GREAT TIME IN YOUR AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS CAMPERS:T

i bought a caravan yesterday - i have no ideas about how they work and have been researching on the net. our van is also dated and its gonna have a major 'pimp' up. i'm planning on doing it in black and red. Black seats (black curtains with red flowers and cushions to match) gonna paint the inside white and the cupboards red. gonna try and do i on a mass budget - bring on the carboots!

however i am confused about what paint to use. i dont fancy wallpapering (i hate it) and the paper seems fine. but when i researched it kept talking about all different paints i'd never heard of. i was wondering if you could just use interior matt wall paint? (and maybe red gloss for wooden cupboards?) is this viable?

i think more caravans should be more modern - why stick with beige when you have an imagination?

i've also seen some black with red flowers cutlery at wilkos but whether they have plastic versions, i dont know!

    Hi everyone!

I hope that this is in the right place, I feel like it's more old style help I'm after.

We've just bought a 1990 touring caravan to get out and about with our 2 toddlers and make some memories, and it's all exciting! We're on a really tight budget (we used his gran's inheritance money to buy it) but I would dearly love to get it a bit more cosy.

The stuff you seem to be able to buy for caravans doesn't exactly seem funky, but I know it's probably not easy to get stuff cheaply as everything is specially made for caravans! I'd love to do it all out Cath Kidston stylie (but on the cheap!) and paint the inside and maybe even outside! But there seems to be very little info about going down this route for caravans, especially on the cheap.

We're very much starting from scratch with it - it comes with a starter set but no awning, etc, it has very old cushions which I'm conscious may be a bit minging esp worrying as our kids'll be sleeping on them. :o We don't have the spare pots adn pans and stuff either cos I gave ours away on freecycle, lol!

All advice would be gratefully received. I have my fingers crossed that it's been done on the cheap as I'd love to get it looking more us!

What's jumped into my mind is that you could get some fleece blankets - post the colours you are looking ofr on here because all the supermarkets do 'cheap' fleece blankets/throws as do Primark & Matalan and, I am sure, othe rplaces.

Fleece washes (and, more importantly dries), well and it has to be an idea to have some extra, warm blankets to hand.

Other thing - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get a carbon monoxide alarm.

Poundland has loads of camping stiff in at the mo, as does B&M.
Primark also have a range of lovely retro patterned cool bags and picnic blankets.
