settlement figure

Hi all,
I have finally got a debt of mine down to a amount that is within my range to settle.
The debt company rang me and were trying to get me to say i would settle but i said i would have to work out my money and am not sure yet.
They said the settlement figure was a disount of 25% off the debt.
Can i haggle on this amount even further...
eg.They want £450...........can i offer £350, £400 etc????..would they go for that to get it sorted.????
how far can i go with them???

Who are the debt company?

Have they bought the debt or just collecting on behalf of the original creditor?

I have had clients this week contacted by DCAs (Robinson Way, Aktiv Kapital, BLS if I remember correctly) The unsolicited offers were to settle at 25p, 15p and 25p in the pound. So your figure of 75p may not be generous on their part and you can probably do better but we'll need to know who you're dealing with.

the company are DLC.
I belive they are just collecting for the creditor who is EGG.
I am not great at haggling but want to have an idea of how far they will go to get a cleared account.
