ASDA - £1 Vegetarian + Quorn (Fake Meat) Items

Spotted quite a lot of cheap fake meat type stuff today, might be worth loading up the freezer. (all £1)

~ Grassingtons (i think) roasted veg pies x2 (had these before and they're quite tasty :)
~ Grassingtons Veg sausages
~ Quorn Fillets 300g (normally about £1.70-£2)
~ Alpro Soya marinated tofu pieces
~ VeggieDeli 'sandwich meats' - ham, chicken, beef and best of all pepperami/salami type stuff which is yum :)

Also these, but they were clearance/not selling anymore lines so not sure if it's everywhere:
~ Quorn Mince + Onion style pies x4
~ Quorn 'Popcorn Chicken'
~ Quorn Lasagne

And slightly less moneysaving... the new quorn mini scotch eggs... which taste just like the 'real thing'... nom :) (£2.28 for 12 though)

  • Did anyone used to get the Asda "own" brand veggie mince?

It was in a reddish packet...
I haven't bought it for a few month but when I went to the store the other day and they didn't have any

I was just wondering whether it was a temporary thing or they just decided not to do them.. You see I don't eat eggs either and so quorn is no good to me =(
  • they still do it at our store....
they also had in tofu mince in the chilled section, if it's any good to you :)

    Is this Asda's own make?
  • Is this Asda's own make?

Nope, it's made by the Redwood company, I think they're an American company :)

I believe they're actually British. All their food is suitable for both vegetarians and vegans - here's their website.

Is there egg in quorn then? I thought it was a fungus Well I had never noticed quorn contained egg before. Not bothered as ds is a veggie but eats eggs. Good job they are free range though as he is a bit fussy about that.
