Best of the major recruitment agencies?

The pay of an agent comes out of the temp's salary/perm employee's finders fee! It's a sales job and they get paid on results (ie. they lose money if they 'just sit there'.) Legally, you are self-employed and the agent is working for you! Don't forget that. If you have the skills which they agent needs for the type of jobs which they handle, you are doing them a favour by signing up with them.
I would second that Hays are a good agent, ROC are v efficient and a friend is having suitable placements with Eden Browne right now (which I think has a property division.)

I have worked for Reed, Manpower and Brook street before and found them all to be very professional and I have never had a problem with any of them - however I wasnt really 'temping' in the true sense of the word, as I was placed on long term assignments at BT and what was then PowerGen.Moving on up

Oh I don't know, Some of the consultants I ever met and that was alot, Some were obviously very good and some very cr**P.
Think the bigger agencies seem to work slower than others.
Some of the consultants had really bad time management, And didn't seem to know what they were doing, It seemed they had too many people to find jobs for.
If that was the case, Then it is upto the senior consultant to divide the workload between the consultants.
To be honest some were very useless and I often wondered how they got the job?
But credit to the really proffesional consultants who would always ring you before your assignment ended to discuss further jobs.
Some other consultants would let you do all the running around, And not make any creditable effort to organise a job or placement.
I'm glad i'm out of it all.:jThomson 757 Man0 -

It is flippin' annoying!
Which is the best agency/jobsite to be registered with? I'm looking to get into property/surveying/construction.

OK, in more detail, recruitment agents get paid a basic rate and a cut of the temp's earnings/perms finders fee tops it up.
I would reiterate to the OP that if an agent is not getting you work, ditch them. They work for you, not the other way round.
Also, about 80% of people lie on their CVs, I've worked with people who were proved to have done so, so checks are necessary.0 -

95% are just a 'complete waste of time' Young lasses sat there looking busy looking nice.....
There ok, There getting paid to sit there, While you the 'Monkey' is walking around town looking for work.
I always found the 'out of town' agencies to be the best, They work harder than the city centre agencies.
The agencies to stay away from (previous exp)
Office Angels, Kelly's, Randstad, Taskforce - (They are rubbish)
Best ones are - Addecco 10/10, Reed 9/10, Hays 10/10.
Driver Hire 8/10.
A mate of mine said they are all 'hotheads'
I worked for Office Angels, And did really well on their assignments ( Solicitor's assistant) then got the call......huu we won't need you anymore!!
But they were still wanting someone.
No notice nor nothing.
Thank's a bundle.
Never worked for an agency since - 5 years ago.

They all advertise jobs that are not actually there.
I think that's very wrong.
I would stick with Hays, Reed, Brook St.

i totally agree with you there, the last two postings are totally right ,i have had the same problem. i worked with a company just the other week in warrington via an agency garrentted me work for 5 months ,ok only 5 mnths ,but it was work ,3 days later the agencys tells me that if i didn't get all the work done today ,i would be out of a job the next day. & on another note yes they do show work on jobcentre sites which they don't straght away offer ,plus you have to register 1st ,oh that is a must. the sad thing is 80% of all jobs on any site ie jobcentre is just about agency work ,i mean what chance has anyone got getting back to paid work with that situation, makes me sick:mad:0 -
