I need a bank account quick

Halifax have closed my account because of overdraft problems.

I need to find another bank pretty quick.

Anyone know who will let me open account without credit checks?

  • Try the Co-operative Bank, they run a good basic bank account
  • I agree, try the Coop.

  • I had same problems went to co-op very helpful!
  • I had to swap accounts last year. I also used Co-op. Very easy to apply online. I have set up online banking and it does every thing i need it to.

Yes, I had to do that at the beginning of the year...It's called 'Think Banking' they don't do credit checks and will give you an account number and sort code straight away over the phone..They also do Direct Debits and standing orders, and a maestro card but no cheque book..Only downside is you have to pay 12.50 a month, but HSBC used to charge me 12.99 a month so I didn't loose out at all.

I opened a Natwest Step account on line. Very quick and easy.

I was led to believe that for basic bank accounts, banks don't do credit checks - that's what they are about as you are not getting credit such as an overdraft with them.

    Good luck.

you must ask for a basic bank account when you try and open an account

Ones that we find that clients have managed to get set up with recently are coop and nationwide.
