I wasn't sure where to post this so apologies if it shouldn't be here, but this seemed as good a section as any.
I have passed CeMAP 1 and I am studying for 2 & 3 - however, I have the pleasure of currently working for HBOS and for obvious reasons I don't think my job is safe so I'm looking to jump before I am pushed. I've been looking at going into insurance instead but I'm a bit overawed by all the different qualifications.
What advice could you guys offer? I don't think I'm aiming to be an IFA, but I should probably complete the CeMAP as I'm sure it will be useful in years to come once the market picks up. I've looked it the CII qualifications, but not sure what value they hold in the real world...
Thanks
Inchy

Well whilst many people might tell you otherwise I am delighted to be working in this industry and it is keeping me extremely busy.
I understand that it is a tough time for many in the mortgage business but not all. If you do your research you will finding broker firms who are recruiting for employed positions.
If you can survive in these times it will be a great place to be when things pick up too.I am a Mortgage and Protection AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as an Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Just curious.. Is this the right thread for career advise? :rotfl:0

Hi go on to the Chartered Insitute of Insurers website, plenty of career advice & support there. We still need good qualified people in this industry even more so now! I would also suggest you do all your Financial Planning Exams as at a later date you may want to advise. For non advice roles paraplanning is a good route to follow, a good paraplanner is worth their weight in gold. This would give you a good solid background to later advise or even follow a compliance route...Good Luck0

If you're going into insurance see if your prospective employer will subsidise the cost of CII exams. Many of the better insurance jobs in some roles specify ACII. I found the CII insurance exams quite interesting myself and they definitely gave me a massive edge over my colleagues in terms of technical knowledge.0
