Aussie Money Saving Tips Please!

I'm off to spend a few months down under on 3rd December, does anybody have any money saving tips specific to living an MSE lifestyle in Australia please?

I think that's the type of thing you'll find on Bridie's site.

Out of interest I did a google search for moneysaving kangeroo and there's some sites that might be of interest to you, including how to get vouchers for pita and pocket bread! (Whatever that is!) :rotfl:

Edit... the Kangeroo breads are American!

We only went for 3 weeks but what we did was the first thing is to find out where the local supermarkets are as did not take any shampoo etc with us so bought it there.

Some things are lot cheaper the train cost where amazing like £45 single to travel from sydney to brisbane. You can go over night on some trains but they are not easy to sleep on.

If you are going to be staying in hostels make sure that you book ahead for friday and saturday nights as they get really busy.

Oh and they round up and down so if something costs $1.98 you will not be getting any change out of two dollars. And if it is $1.96 they round it down to $1.95.

For presents to bring back look for little markets as we found they where way cheaper than normal gift shops.

Have a fabbo time the 3 weeks we had was no way long enough and I hope to get back one day. And the tia maria tim tams are lush. But do make you stink like you have been drinking not good at 8am :rotfl:
