Alternative to a TV

My son (9) has PS2 which he currently hooks up to our one and only TV in the lounge. He's only allowed to play on it for a limited time each day. Can you hook PS2s up to anything else? DS is currently saving his pocket money for a TV for his bedroom but neither me or my husband like TV's in bedrooms. We would like to consider any alternative that would mean that we didn't have to listen to the running commentary we currently get when DS is playing football or cricket games. Any suggestions??
