Standard Life policy - sell or keep?

Started December 1987

Due to mature December 2009

Gross premium £30

With-profits basic sum assured £6804

Sum payable on death £18000

Current bonuses attached £5177

Current surrender value £12974

Maturity value forecasts 3.75 = £13400
5.5 = £13700
7.25 = £14000

Conventional with profits (MC80 plan) and no mortgage promise value

Not required to pay mortgage

Any advice much appreciated - awaiting calls from some companies which may be interested!

    If you cashed it in now and put it on deposit with a net return of 5% to maturity also paying in the premiums, then your total return would be 13,992, equal to or better than the best SL forecasts but with no risk.

    Terminal bonuses are likely to go down over the next year or two, so I would head for the exit now as your policy is likely to decline in value despite receiving additional premiums..
    Trying to keep it simple...;)
