Looking at it another way, my ‘retire at 60 with no penalty’ was just a zero percent reduction (from 65 to 60) – which as you say, are rarely guaranteed – and, yes it does apply to me.

During my time within the pension scheme – I seem to recall, me paying into the scheme was ‘guaranteed’, it appears that no payout is guaranteed – I also recall the company taking pension payment holidays – something not afforded to me.
