They do connect with people, people tell them they're totally useless and to give it up and let someone else have a go. But they just don't listen.0

TBH I don't see either this lot, or the other lot, sorting out the unholy mess we're in. We'd be better with a coalition (I nearly said 'of all the talents'!!!) to take us into the strange new future that is dawning. We could soon be in a situation as serious as a War.
However it won't happen, so Dave will eventually get his chance, blow it, and then we'll have the scene set for a really 'strong' character to enter stage right.....0 -
Hazel B gets my vote for most annoying person of all time.
The innane robotic grin and oh so fizzy persona drive me slightly diabolic.0 -
It's surely unfair to criticise Gordon Brown for having a Cabinet that conforms to a generally accepted definition, i.e.: made of wood enclosing an assortment of empty spaces.
As for hoping for a return of the Conservatives -- the party that brought you, amongst other things, opposition to the Minimum Wage; privatisation of gas, water, electricity, buses and the railways; and John Major's outstanding campaign for a Motorway Cones Hotline -- well, there's certainly so much to look back on in that regard as to make the prospect of a future Tory Government fill everyone with joy.
The problem with Brown, Cameron et al is that they're now pretty familiar with the meaning of the term "credit crunch".
But continue to remain blissfully ignorant of the meaning of the term "credibility crunch", a condition which arises when politicians are seen to be so harmful to an individual's welfare that every ballot paper should warn that ticking any box will prove harmful to your wealth.
If the ludicrous Brown and his desperate hangers-on represent the sum total of democracy's evolution, then constitutional as well as economic bankruptcy can't be too far off.0 -

The worst thing is, the current bunch of lightweights and makeweights that form out current political caste may well mean that we end up with a sprinkling of BNP MPs. If we do it's a mark of shame on all three parties.0

Against Thatcher they were in the streets, can't see that yet.
"They" being the militant left, rent-a-mob, bunch of thugs who didn't have the class to argue their point.
Just because anti-Labour opinions are voiced by reasonable people who choose not to lower themselves to violence, does not devalue those opinions, nor make this government any less inept, incompetent or corrupt.0 -
I do in general find it quite sad that none of the politcal parties seem keen to engage in intelligent debate about the future, the problems facing the country and possible solutions. I find the tribal tittle-tattle very annoying, especially from voters. It says "I can't be bothered to think, I'll just rattle out the same things I always say, us vs them".Happy chappy0

That's because they are more comfortable with the tribal stuff, rather than the global issues, against which any intelligent policy decisions should be formulated; Peak Oil and climate change being just two that spring to mind.
They know that decisions based upon seeing our country right in the longer term, no matter how wise or intelligent, won't serve their immediate interests.
They're a bit like a couple of formerly successful bands, still churning out the same old riffs because the fans expect that, while the bulk of the population look on with total disinterest.0 -
Did anyone watch Question Time last night? Sadly, it's not on the bbc Iplayer yet. It looks like it was entertaining.
On the Extra program so far. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00dt3t9/Happy chappy0
