Inheritance _can someone help please?

Options
Hiya

Hopefully someone will know how to help me .

My gran has informed my father that he should have got some inheritance that has instead gone to his Aunty.
Basically (according to my gran),my dads father should have got the inheritance but he passed away about 15 years ago.
Does this mean my Dad should of got it or is it right that irt went to his Aunty.
And if my Dad should have got it how would he go about getting it?

Many Thanks In advance

Jay

You'd really need to see the will of the person who died to see if there was an error made.
    Trying to keep it simple...;)
  • Thats the thing! i only know there 1st name, and second name before she was married (obviously LOL)
So i was wondering how i would go about finding(if I can) out what was on the will?

Is it a significant amount of money at stake - there are professional geneologists whose whole carrer is tracing people and details etc?

If it's only a small amount of money, if you're on speaking terms with the aunt in question, you could say 'gran's got this crazy idea about some inheritance you got years ago, could you have a word with her if it's not right as it's upsetting us and we don't want to cause a rift.

Ten to one your grandfather knew what was going on and was happy to see his sister get the money for whatever reason - he may even have authorised it - was she short of cash compared to him - maybe he said to his wife 'I was entitled to some of that you know' - but if there was something fishy maybe your aunt will admit it - if not is it worth suing family? Would have to be a lot of money at stake and definite feeling of ill-treatment to make me consider it, even if they were distant relations.
