Mackenzie Hall

Hi,

Wonder if you guys may be able to lend me some assistance. I received a letter from Mackenzie Hal a couple of months' back. Same scenario, they claimed I owed them money etc etc. After searching their name on this sites Forum, i took the genral advise not to contact them under any circumstances. They have now sent me another letter claiming that I have 24 hours to pay or else. What should I do?

    First thing stay clam

MH have a lot of unenforceable debt and routinely chase people to whom it does not even belong.

Do you have any idea what they are chasing you about?

  • Hi, I know that the subject of Mackenzie Hall has been covered but I have an additional query... my boyfriend who lives with me has received a letter the same as those already mentioned "attempting to contact him regarding a personal matter and been provided with your address, etc..." My boyfriend is not aware of any debt and says that if there is something then it is may years ago (I note your comments regarding MH being unable to chase for any CCJ over 6 years), The problem is that although the letter is addressed to my boyfriend, it is my address on the envelope. My boyfriend moved in with me approximately 1 year ago and has no investment in my property as the house is mine. Is it possible for MH to blacklist me too as it is my address. I have read the various comments re: MH and am advising my boyfriend not to contact them, to check the debt with Experian and if it is indeed over 6 years to write a letter to them saying that but where does this leave me with my house as the address they are chasing him at?
  • I have a feeling it may be a credit card I took out stupidly in my first year of university, 5 years ago. I left the country for a while and when I returned there was no record of it with my bank. If it is to do with that, this is the first I have heard about it since.

    OK
it would only be statute barred if the debt was more than 6 years old in England and Wales (5 years in Scotland).

One option would be to request the Consumer Credit Agreement and see if MH have that.

But until they tell you what it is about it could be anything.

Hi do you have any joint accounts?

Is he on the electoral roll?

And equity is only an issue if he is made bankrupt and they can prove Beneficial Interest. A year in, that is not really an issue.

  • So until they tell me exaclty what it is for, ignore them. I also read that no Baliffs can come round unless by order of the court and they need to prove they have the agreement before they can take me to court?

    Hi

Confused as the whether it is you or partner they are chasing.

They can certanly threaten court action and it is not unknown for DCAs to start court actioon in the hope of frightening you into paying but they are most unliely to turn up and even if you do the judge should not award anything without the CCA. In fact he would get really snotty with them.
