I think Julian Graves have been bought by Holland and Barratt
    Yes confirmed here.
  • Amended - the Formby branch has now stopped the 'everything' half price and has 'hundreds of things half price'.....

Shame about Holland and Barratt - I hope they still keep the 'Julian Graves' name and 'look' - I sound like a snob, but I prefer it and the store layout, to Holland and Barratt.....

We have a Julian Graves next door to a Holland and Barratt. I hope they don't shut one of them down.
  • Hi

The Julian Graves on Colmore Row, Birmingham (opp Snow Hill Station) has the half price offer on at the moment - it's been on for the past couple of weeks and the staff said it is on until the end of the month.

I tend to use this one or the one in the Pavillions as one or the other usually has the half price offer on.

    Cheers

Yes, Julian Graves does seem to have a few half price sales on ALL items. They tend to last as said about 3 days, but they had one that lasted about a month last December (from about the second week in December to about the second week in January or so). We didn't know about the sales until we where told about them (I used to work in one).

I find it a little bit amusing that it's been bought by Holland and Barrett, because when I worked in a JG everyone kept mistaking JG for Holland and Barrett even though they are different as JG calls itself a luxury food shop whereas Holland and Barrett staff are apparently trained about natural foodstuffs, or that is what I have heard. I think I do prefer JG selections though.

I wonder if Julian Graves head offices will stay in Kingswindford (however you spell it) and what changes will be made.

Oh, I've never thought of JG as being a luxury food shop, just somewhere you can buy dried fruit, nuts and seeds in large packs at reasonable prices. Have always seen Holland and Barrett as a "Health Food" store.

That's what they drummed into me rather a lot about JG being a luxury foods shop as opposed to a health food shop. I definetely ate a lot of nuts, etc when I worked there and I loved their dried fruit snack bars. Also bear in mind that they also stock sweets, ie, jazzies, jelly beans (yum), etc.

    I see H & B as a health food store though.
