Getting a loan/mortgage on Incap Benefit

Options
 Can anybody tell me how or more to the point where I can get a £9000 loan? I own my home outright, have a excellent credit history (just checked with equifax) but I'm on long-term incapacity benefit, child tax credit and get some money (sometimes) from the ex via the CSA. I've looked into it a bit and even though I get more money than I would working 16 hours a week in the corner shop, which some lenders deem acceptable to get me a loan, the benefit does not seem to be acceptable.
Hope someone's got some ideas cos at the moment I can't find anything which is really annoying as before I was ill, I had no problem getting loans, mortgages etc!

  • Hi there
A lot of high street lenders do not regard incapacity as a secure income and unless you are receiving a certain amount each month they may not lend you the money. If you have dealt with a bank before I would call in and ask their advice. I would also call in your local CAB who may be able to help. I am in a similar situation, I am sure you will get further replys soon.

why do you wish to continue to reduce your standard of living by paying lots of interest to banks rather than spending your money on yourself, your family and friends?
  • I'm trying to reduce the amount of interest I'm paying as my debt is currently on credit cards!
