I've had a dig around and it's looking like a recon one (apart from buying from USA sites ... ?) ... I was given one free to support our downloading service but they changed it because it wasn't compatible ....

To be honest, if it's been discontinued, you might get more for your money if you have a look around at the i-river, philips, creative models if you don't want an iPod ... ?

If you have a chance to go into a Morgan store, you can have a look at the product.

I know it's sort of odd getting a reconditioned unit as a present, but often you really can't tell - the product is often perfect. I've bought lots of stuff from them reconditioned, and I can't usually tell. Even if you have to go mail order, they're pretty friendly and can probably tell you if there will be anything noticeable wrong.
