Halloween Party

Me and my neighbour are secretly trying to organise a halloween party for all the kids that live in our street and surrounding ones, as we live on a council estate and to be honest, the kids dont really have much to look forward to this time of year. there will be a range of kids ages from 18 months right up to 15 or 16, so we want something for everyone, and obviously cheap, so we'll be heading to poundland. But just wondering what games and stuff we can do? thinking of starting it around 4pm for the little ones and taking them trick or treating, have got the apple bobbing game down, just not sure of any other fun games, any ideas muchly appreciated

Never enjoyed apple bopping as wasnt into apples, so we used to do a donut version!
Tie a donut onto a peice of string and hang. Then try and eat it using just your mouth

What a great idea!
Another traditional Hallowe'en game is pancakes (treacly - optional!!) or doughnuts on strings. Have them at different heights. Players have to keep their hands behnd their backs, and try to eat the pancakes/doughnuts.
For the older ones, maybe adapt some old Hallowe'en superstitions? Peel an apple (or an orange I suppose) in one long strip, toss it over your shoulder, and then have a look at it as it lies on the floor. What letter does it look like? That's the initial of your true love (cue much cackling/giggling/shouting out of names!).
A slightly spookier superstition is the one which says that if you sit in front of a mirror at midnight, by candlelight, eating an apple and brushing your hair, the face of your true love will apear in the mirror. (Some versions say that it will be the face of Old Nick... ). I think you'd need nerves of steel to try this one with teenagers (I bet they'll all be trying to appear in the mirror, even if they're just 'joking'
 ). But, if they're having fun....
Non-traditional, but fun, and a way to use up some energy. Split them into pairs. One person sits on a chair. The other is handed a toilet roll (hysterical in itself for most kids!). They have to wrap their 'partner' to the chair with the toilet roll. First one to use up the whole roll wins.
HTH. And have a great time!0 -
