Looks like we have to resort to this as we have around £30k debt, and have tried everything to clear it... you all know the score i'm sure!
I have seen some of you mention charity debt management companies where you dont have to pay the monthly fee... i was wondering if someone could please point us in the right direction so that we can have a read up on it and see what our options are.
Thanks

Hi
Try CCCS, CAB or Payplan (although Payplan are not a charity they do free DMP's).
Be careful when you Google CCCS as there are unscruplous companies out there masquerading as CCCS. Also, CCCS have a debt remedy on line that you could do.
Good luck.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

Make sure that it is this company:
Consumer Credit Counselling Service - Website: CCCS Telephone: 0800 138 1111
There are a few less reputable and fee charging companies that use a similar name to try and get business.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
IVA & fee charging DMP companies: Profits from misery, motivated ONLY by greed0 -
Ah thanks for the tip, i would probably have made that mistake lol.
Really hope they can helpI:coffee:

Hi & Welcome
I started a dmp in January with PayPlan. It was the best thing I did. They have been great.
I applied online through their website and immediately got a call from them to arrange a telephone appointment so I could go through all my incomings/outgoings. They telephoned at the time arranged. and once I gone through everything I got the forms to sign within the week.
I had 2 creditors but 3 debts. 1 , capital one have been great, freezing interest and charges straightaway, the other HSBC would not even accept my repayment plan and eventually passed my debt to their collection people, who had no problem with accepting my repayment plan.
Eight months down the line and the phone calls and letters have stopped, it will take me until 2020 to pay off everything, but hopefully that will change if I can gradually increase my payments.
I was going to use a fee charging company until I came here and discovered PayPlan.
Good luck with everything
