Do you have a ny local forestry commissions near you?
Ours open up at Christmas witha grotto etc and trees for sale in all different shapes and sizes. For every tree they cut down, they plant another. I think it's a good way of doing it
    I haven't got one!
  • I have bought them from Homebase before (and this year alread) they have one (forget the name) that is supposed to not drop the nedles too much. Last year this tree lasted until Feb when my wife had enough and insisted I take it down ...
This year it cost £10 last year £15 (5 ft)

  • I'd always go to a Farm rather than B&Q or something like that........

I buy mine in a place in Kent (eyensford) its called 'Christmas Tree Farm',
you choose which tree you want and the farmer chain saw's it down (the Kids love it)
I feel like the guy out of National Lampoons every year

I think it cost's about £30 we get ours about 2 1/2 weeks before Christmas and it last well into the New Year.

It's £30 well spent and everyone turns up and leaves with a big smile on their faces......
  • Yes, they really are quite expensive arn't they? But there is something of the hunter mentality of going and picking the best tree out of hundreds, lugging it onto the roof rack and arriving home to the delight of the kids who cannot wait to have you put it up immediately!

Unfortunately the last one we purchased for indoors dropped just about every needle within days (and we only buy about a week to ten days before Christmas) and we ended going out and purchasing a falsie. However, we do still buy one for outside the front of the house and decorate it with little white pin lights - so pretty in the dark.
  • we buy Norwegian trees they have soft needles...... and dont drop any
