Given the bank will need to auction it off i doubt claiming the place you just ran away from is haunted is a good idea.
I recon given his "I have £25million"claims the bank haven let him set it up a company loan or some other way which means the owner has limited liability0 -
They also claim to have seen apparitions and heard knocking on the wall of the 17-bedroom mansion in Nottinghamshire.
The ghosts didn't want us to be there and we could not fight them because we couldn't see them," he said.
Eh? can't fight the ghosts you see because you can't see them?
I think he overpaid, as well, from Wikipedia:
In 2004 they were up for sale for £500,000.
And he paid £3.6 million 3 years later!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
I looked at it on birds eye view - it looked like the whole place was gutted, and the houses down the road were refurbished and extras built

I wonder how much money was spent on the refurbs. Seems to be a lot of heavy duty clearing work going on on the birds eye view link.0 -
