Hello
I'm looking for a recipe for a cake I don't know the name of! As a child my neighbour made lovely tray bakes with dates in them. They were similar in size and colour to tiffin. I know the definitely had dates in them, and i guess from the consistency, perhaps some condensed milk too. They were so yummy - I would love to find out what they were so i can make my own.
Any suggestions?
thanks
Catherine

Another recipe I found on one of these sites is one that I have made a couple of times and is delicious - don't let the name put you off!!
“Sex in the pan” bar cookies
1/2 Cup pecans
2 Cup plain flour
1/2 Cup Chocolate Chips.
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 egg
1 250 gm packet cream cheese
2 tsp vanilla
1/2 Cup maple syrup (plus 1 tablespoon golden syrup makes cake sweeter)
1/2 Cup butter
Combine pecans, flour, chocolate chips, baking powder and baking soda; set aside
Using an electric mixer blend egg and cream cheese together. Add vanilla, maple syrup and softened butter.
Slowly add flour mixture, stirring well.
Pour batter into greased 7 x 11 in pan. Bake at 350 for 30 min. Frost with favourite frosting if desired. (maple syrup flavoured icing adds to the flavour)
If you think the mix isn’t sweet enough (only uses maple syrup, no sugar) you could add a tablespoon or two of golden syrup.
Icing the finished slice will add to the sweetness.I haven't got one!0 -
