Ok heres what im thinking . Ive got a payg card for phoniex gas . Ive been topping up the last few days to get it in before the price hike in a couple of weeks . Am i right about this ? will topping up now save me or will the meter auto adjust to the new tarrif or something like that . If i can top up now then it makes sense to get a loan , say even a couple of grand cause the interest rate on the loan is going to be much less than the 30% price hike . Open for debate , what do you all think ...................

There was something about this on the radio last weekend. Didn't catch if it was about gas or electricity so I rang both companies. Phoenix said that as a DD customer it wouldn't work for me, and anyway it 'wouldn't be fair on other customers'!
For electricity customers with pre-pay meters I was told by a very friendly lady that it does work. However I think there is a limit - maybe £400?

Hi
ok i phoned Phionex gas and the guy advised me that i can topup my gas card up to max of 1800units as that all the meter will take . he did say that any units purchased now will be at todays rate . So im off to top up . I worked out that the most you can put on a gas card is £49 then you must empty it into the meter and go back to the paypoint and but another £49 etc etc .something missing0 -
Thank you for that info William.
Do you know how much in pounds that converts to please?0 -
HI William thanks for that info , Angela i tried to stick £100 on my card today and it would only take £40 which increased my meter by 75 units. So if my calculations are right 1800 units would be £960.So thanks to Williams info i will be topping up again over the next few days0

Hello everyone
Does anyone know if we can pay in exta to Phoenix gas befire the prices rise if we are on Direct Debit?
I am really worried about the price increase- we pay £90 per month at the moment and that will be £117 with the 30% increase
Many thanks
Fiona
Ps.
How long do you have your gas on for at the moment?
We have it on 1 hour in the 7-8 am and about 2 hours in evening 7-9pm, but I am trying really hard to keep it off as much as possibe......
