  • He does have a very common name, not quite John Smith but I reckon pretty common none-the-less. Could it be mistaken identity?

    I think I've seen on a few other threads that they send out loads of cards 'fishing' for a bite, and this usually is for an old debt. They'll look up the electoral register and other public information for names.

    Sit tight and don't respond. Other than that totally agree with Fermi and just wait for the follow up that probably won't arrive.

    If it is genuine such as an old missed utility bill or something, then they should have the decency to write properly and explain.

    If it is genuine then they will. If they are fishing then they will probably look for a 'bite' elsewhere. ;)

  • Just check his credit reports on a regular basis to make sure they dont slap a default on them.

  • It good be for an old utility account but don't do anything at the moment. As we've all said, just sit tight and see what happens. Lowells are well known for this - just search the forum and you'll probably see that.

    Don't worry about them. If you get any more correspondence from them, then post back on here.

    And yes, we are a great bunch of people!!! This forum has been a god-send for me!

  • If they had any decency in the first place then they would not act like they do. If it is an old utility bill they could have written to previous address. But as Fermi has advised sit tight and see what happens next. Good luck hun and dont fret too much about it.

    Oops! Didn't mean to suggest that Lowells had any decency at all. :eek:

    That would be completely and utterly untrue.

    :rotfl::rotfl:

    EDIT: But I agree, please don't worry. These people are not worth it, honest. :)

  • Thank you everyone for your help and information. Will throw it away and forget about it and wait to see if they actually do have anything on him.

    Really appreciate the help and reassurances :)
