I have received two letters from a debt collection agency regarding £30 that they say I owe in ebay fees. I have not responded to them, and today I received a letter from a company called S C Leatham-Lock LL.B pre-litigation department. They say that they have reviewed a detailed history of my account and that they are recommending to their clients that they prepare the necessary papers for the issue of legal proceedings. Unless they receive full payment within 72 hours, they will proceed with this recommendation.
What is going to happen next? Do you think they will issue me with a court summons next or do you think they will write me some more letters? The address on the letters is slightly wrong (does not contain my house number) so I don't think they will be able to get my phone number and phone me but do you think they will start knocking on my door? Does anyone know what the latest time for payment of this debt would be before it appeared on my credit file?

No one will ever take you to court for £30. They will just bombard you with letters forever to wear you down, if they want your phone number they'll get it. For the sake of any easy life pay it, or return the letters to sender not known at address. Any default notice issued by ebay wouldn't have your dob on it and would show as "mail order" on your credit file- most banks ignore these.0

Is this a debt you owe?
Have you sent the prove it letter, or are you not disputing it?
No idea about the latest time for payment - have you checked your credit file recently? Is there a default on it?
If you need to stall for time, you may want to write to them making an offer of a repayment agreement. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

If you do not know if you owe this debt, send the "prove it" letter. They need to prove the debt is yours before you pay it.

Check the email account Ebay is linked to. You will probably find a stack of reminders from them.
I can't understand why you can't log in though, I've been suspended before but could still get to the sellers account screen. The only thing worse than smug married couple; lots of smug married couples.0
