Cheapest ever 1TB SATA hard drive? £76.38

Western Digital Caviar GP 1TB WD10EACS SATAII 7200rpm 16mb Cache - OEM

Same drive and spec as one on offer at Aria but slightly cheaper. Plus the Aria one only lets you buy one drive at this price. I just bought four of these from Tekheads for a 4TB RAID array.

Postage is from £5.50 for next day or collect for free!

Aria's got a Samsung Spinpoint F1 drive (better drive in my opinion) for £70.44 delivered.

The Samsung Spinpoint F1 drive offers a superior combination of density, recording quality and reliability. This 3Gbps SATA drive has a maximum of 334GB of formatted capacity per platter while also featuring Samsung's industry-leading NoiseGuard and SilentSeek‚ technologies to eliminate acoustic noise. Servers, high-end desktops, RAID systems and DVRs are among the applications well suited to the Spinpoint F1 drive.

  • I stand corrected, however that does not include delivery.

Also having bought four Spinpoint drives for a RAID array just over a year ago and experiencing 4 failures (one of the RMA replacment drives failed after a week) I won't be buying a Samsung again.

Good job they were in a RAID array or I'd have lost a LOT of data. YMMV.
  • Can't comment on what they'd be like in a raid array.

all brands of hard drive fail mbriody, its pointless trying to dodge it, seeing as you've been so unlucky with samsung, chances are u'll never get another failure from them again :p

this cheapest drive thing will just change week by week... dropping every week and going further and further down in price.
