I'm wondering whether this showerhead is as good as it says & has anyone tried/got one of these?

    From the Drinking Water Inspectorate:

" The small amounts of chlorine in your water prevent harmful bacteria growing in the water mains or your pipes. You can rest assured that the usual amount of chlorine in water leaving treatment works is safe and well within the World Health Organisation guidelines."

These sort of thing rely on scaring people with so-called risks that aren't there.

Actually, chlorine can kill you - if a 40 gallon drum of the stuff falls on your head !
  • There are statistical links between chlorine and cancer but is there any proof? I know we're, or at least were, lagging in moving to the UV system. Aren't some water authorities using or starting to use UV rather than chlorine? In which case it would be a big waste of money. Showering only when you need to would be a more money saving, and greener, way to reduce 'risk'.

Thats bad science I would imagine any 40 gallon drum falling on your head can kill you.
  • Just another thought when I kept fish you needed to leave the water to stand for 24 hours to allow the chlorine to evaporate so if you live in an area where chlorine is used in the water or is particularly high you can always let a bucket of water to stand.

Although the chlorine in the water is considered safe / acceptable for humans it is high enough to kill fish.

Where I used to live the water stank of chlorine especially after waterborne diseases were reported in the media.
