Raincheck vouchers

Did my grocery shopping at Sainsburys this am, they seemed to be quite low on stock of lots of things.

When I got to the till I asked for a couple of raincheck vouchers for promotions they had on but had run out of stock, but lady from Customer Services said they don't do vouchers.

She said that all offers are on availability only.

Even the lady who served me at the till was surprised by her answer.

Is this Sainsburys policy now?

I wasn't aware that Sainsburys offer rainchecks but I am aware that Tesco offer a similar thing called "Price Promise". I'll often find some deals in the wine aisle where they have run out of stock but if you go to the customer service desk and ask for a price promise they will issue you with a small voucher which allows you to purchase the item at the sale price even when it is back in stock and the offer is ended.

It does pay to persevere though as not all the assistants seem to know of the voucher, so it's probably worth going back to Sainsburys and asking a few people as I don't think it is something that they make readily available to the public and probably don't get asked for very much.
