  • Yep, as others have said. Cancel your card and get another one as they can and will take money. Also, don't set up a direct debit to them as they have control over it but set up a Standing Order which you have control over.
Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free :)
    Mortgage free since 2014 :)
  • I would recommend you send a complaint to Lloyds; they do (or did when I worked there) monitor their debt recovery agents and they would want to be told when they are not behaving in the way they should. It could be that the bank will allow you to deal directly with them which may be easier.

But I would also second what everyone else has said; it can't hurt to speak to a debt charity; and don't be so hard on yourself: you got yourself into a difficult situation when you were younger (which can happen to anyone) the important thing is that you are taking steps to put this right.
  • Hey everyone. Ok i have been into Barclays today and cancelled my card. have spoken to the government debt advice and they have said that they cant really do anything for me as i only have one debt. BUT he suggested i speak with CAB and complain to Lloyds about 1st credit. He said they cannot refuse my instalments. Really helpful actually. So i will let you guys know what happens but in the meantime all advice is sooooooo appreciated.

On a note the fustrating thing is that i have learnt from my mistakes- luckily at a young enough age. I dont have an overdraft, credit card, loan or any store cards. At the moment i just dont need them. Why put the temptation there?? I would much rather save up and buy something out right- having the satisfaction of knowing its mine!! Why dont these debt collection companies try and understand the hell people go through. I know my debt of £2000 doesnt seem like alot to most people but its still enough to scare me!
    Debt Free since 23rd October 2008 :heart2:
