Experian Credit Report - Genuine Site?

Hi,

I'm looking to get my credit report from experian but don't want to sign up to their credit expert thing, where they charge you for everything as all I want is my report.

I know they charge £2 for it but can't find it on the website but I've come across this:

http://www.wiseconsumer.uk.experian.com/

Is this a genuine site?

Cheers

  • Hello,

Yes the website is genuine. I understand what you mean. I checked my report last week and it took ages to get to the experian page where you want to pay £2. But Here is the link to the experian webpage that directs you to it.

I signed up to Credit Expert/Experian for their 30 day free trial. You have to enter bank details but as long as you cancel using a freefone no (0800 656 9000, select option 4) within 30 days - I did it in 15 and instructed my bank not to pay the DD to be on the safe side ;) - they don't take any money from your account. I did find a couple of discrepancies and didn't understand why I have a poor dredit rating when I don't have any debt, credit cards, loans, mortgage etc  but have since learned that being squeaky clean can actually go against you! But I'd rather be clean, which I am thanks to MSE :A , and don't want a credit card etc anyway, I used the site as I was just curious

Hey guys. CreditExpert pay £10 for every free trial you can refer people to join (if you have your own website) so I joined using my own link and tried it out myself.

As the poster above says, its free, and its painless to cancel. However I went one step further and used their full service in that I inquired as to WHY things weren't on my report, because that's free too!

It turns out Student Loans don't appear because they actually don't affect your credit profile - I presume this is the governments way of helping us indebted students out.

Anyway, in summary. Its a totally free service for 30 days. I'm not biased, I'm not going to give you my referral link to it :P, I just love sharing the idea of freebies. Being paid £10 to try out my own freebie was also a bonus :D.

Am I being thick here, or is that long winded link you posted just a link to a page that contains a link to the page you need to go to to purchase a £2 report. And that page just happens to be the very same page that the OP posted the link for?
