What's happening to my income tax?

Also, what happened to this extra £60 we were all supposed to be getting in Septembers salaries in response to the 10p tax shambles earlier this year? (I forgot to ask the tax office about this)[/quote]
As Clapton say, this wasn't "extra" as such, your tax should have been lower of these £60 so this money would then appear on your nett pay. But it wouldn't affect your gross wage.0 -
I have a copy of my P11D form from the financial year to 2008 but not for the current year, Inland revenue have told me that I won't receive this yet anyway and they have this before I do, my P11D for last year shows my taxable benefit total to be £4041 and that is why I have been on a K code, I haven't been paying back any tax for previous years?????, my car was declared on last years P11D, I haven't been given the current years as yetIf the tax office is saying that you should have been on K code all year according to them and you are saying that not only you weren't, but also your employer changed the tax code, then I suggest you walk into your payroll department and ask them about this.
Payroll department should only change your tax code when HMRC tell them to do so and not when they feel like it.
Your employer also must give you a copy of your P11D form, how come you haven't noticed before that they didn't declare your car? Request a copy of this as well.Aug GC £63.23/£200, Total Savings £00 -
if your benefits in kind totals 4041 then your tax free allowance is reduced thus
5435-4041 = 1394 (or 6035-4041 = 1994 now)
so your tax code should have been 139L and not a K code
(now it should be 199L)
you dont receive a P11 until year end0 -

O.K., now I don't understand you. You said in previous post that the Tax office told you that according to your last P11D you no longer have the car... There was no later P11D than the one you have-to 2008, so is the car on this form for the whole year???? They are talking about the same form as you are, there is no later form yet. There is P11D once every year and to tell them any changes during the year employer must complete P46 car...0 -
Hi all,
This isn't entirely related to the current conversation but couldn't find anything else close. Just after some advice.
I work for my previous company from oct 06 to the ned of April of this year. According to the tax office they were not informed by my employer until Jan 08 that I had a company car so now I am being charged all the tax on it. Can I try and claim any compensation from my previous company for not informing the tax office?
Or is it just a pill I will have to swallow.

billabong_baby - I have tried this one, it will not work.
As crazy as this sounds it it true, it is your responsibility to make sure your tax code is correct, you should check your tax code when you receive you payslip and if it is wrong it is your responsibility to chase-up the tax office to correct it.
Sorry......0 -
milliemonster, I hope your tax code has been sorted out, if not give an exact breakdown of your code (you can get this from your tax office) and I will be happy to help you get it sorted.0
