Advice required: bought a TV that doesn't do what I expected...

Hi
I recently bought a TV on 1-year deferred payment from my local Sony Centre (the Bravia KHL-S26A12U). I asked if it would be suitable for Xbox 360, Sony PS3, HD Sky, etc. and they ticked all of the boxes.
I've since realised (almost 2 weeks later) that the TV doesn't have an HDMI socket, which I believe will be essential, or at least very useful, for Sky HD.
I feel I've been mis-advised and want to know what my rights are. I'd happily return to the shop and buy a more expensive set but really don't think I want what I've bought.
Is there anything I can do?
Thanks in advance!
Steve

If it's essential then you have a right to a refund. If not essential then you are on shakey ground.
If you got a letter from Sky to say the TV would not be suitable that will help you.0 -
As far as I'm concerned you've been sold something that doesn't fit with what they told you. Check the receipt - she if there's anything about refunds - if not ring the centre and explain. If they don't budge I just go to the Citizens Advice Bureau - always worked in the past and they've given me excellent advice. There is no need to run outside

Statutory rights says it got to be fit for the purpose. So if the Tv was sold to you to supply HD capability and it isn't then you have a point.
The problem is how do you prove it, or would the anus be on the shop to prove otherwise. They may argue that you should of checked that it has HDMI socket.
Its worth pursuing, perhaps contact trading standards in your area
Corrected mistakes, thanks Poppy90 -

I'd love to say you are talking out of your !!!!!! :rotfl: Funny what difference one little 'o' can make
To OP - have you spoken to the shop yet? Often specialist centres are well up on tech spec and maybe able to tell you how it's compatable with your requirements. If its not suitable and they admit it they should supply you with goods per your spec. Good luck.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)0 -

I did a search for your model number and came up with nothing. However, I did find this one: KDL-S26A12U , is this your TV? If so, it does state that it has the HDMI input.
