Undelivered Credit card Statements

Am I going mad or are the card co's deliberately "forgetting" to post out statements?

RBS Gold and Morgan Stanley statements have not appeared on more than one occasion.

I took 6k from Morgan Stanley for six months and the first statement didn't turn up, which pushed me out of the agreement and into the 20% APR zone, I had a punch-up on the phone and got it reverted back to 0%.

RBS have advised me that I have had ten late payments, this is b**ls**t. I am very diligent with my accounts, they told me that cash paid into their account at a bank can take 5 days to clear, bloody hell, what a con.

Has anybody else had experiences like this?

  • Hi

I have been a victim of this, The best advice I can give is to set up a d/d for the minimum payment from your bank account, [ I think the 'regulars' have recommended this too, elsewhere].
Also, might be worth asking the cc co for a list of dates when they will collect.

  • I prefer not to set up d/d's and take charge myself, RBS advised me that even if a statement is not received an estimated payment must be made, I think this is another scam perpetrated by the Card companies, no statements = massive savings + fees for late payments + interest + + + +

This happened to me many moons ago with Tesco credit card. The best way round it I found was to send them a cheque every 28 days without fail with my account number on the back. Then the money was paid up whether I had the statement or not. If you ring them and complain about not getting a statement they will tell you to do that.

I pay by Standing Order. Because I'm snowballing, I set the minimum payments for all but one card and the rest goes on the priority debts. Every couple of months, I log on and reduce the minimum payments and increase the priority one by the same amount.

Bit of a faff but it means that everything is paid on time and I control who gets what. Takes a couple of minutes with online banking.
