CCJ advice

Just curious to see if anyone can help? I was married a while ago now yr2000 ended up with revolving credit with HSBC ended up couldnt afford to pay and they took me to court and had a CCJ against my name, the total figure was around 8000, court told me to pay 5.62 per mth as i was in difficult times, so i did, recently noticed that the ccj is no longer on my credit report, now I know I still owe money and I have recently been paying £20 per mth but this is going to take me forever to pay off and can't afford any more, do I keep paying this debt (which I have no problem doing) or do I just stop? Have asked CAB and they did not know answer? Please someone must know what i do now apart from keep paying?

From what you say the court has ordered you to pay £5.62 per month. You can pay more than this with no problem but if you pay less then you breach the order and the creditor can enforce the judgement by bailiffs, attachment of earnings or a charging order. So unless you want to take that risk, you should keep paying.
  • Hi BLLIV,
Yes you must keep paying or you could be in a lot of trouble. Why not contact the original creditor to check the balance outstanding so you know where you stand eight years down the line?
  • Thanks peeps much appreciated will try what you say
  • have tried to contact the creditor and turns out its DG solicitors, tried ringing on numerous times and no reply has anyone else had a problem with DG Solicitors and getting hold of them?
  • You should write to them recorded delivery. Then you will know that the letter has arrived and if you have problems getting hold of a statement you can take it to the relevant authorities. By rights you should have been recieving a statement every year, so you could see how much was being paid off and how much was left.
