Cheap Lager

The challange is on to find the cheapest Lager in the country. When I say "Lager", I don't mean drinkable stuff like Stella. I mean the sort of lager that even under age drinkers would give a miss, such as Ace and Norseman:-

So far Netto 4 x Cans of Centurion @ 2.1% for 69p :)

I think we may have a winner at the first attempt! :o

Come on MSE, let me know of your cheap lager bargins. Get out to yor Aldi's, Spar's and corner shops and let's see how low we can go ;D

I'm thinking of running a section to find the lager with the least alcohol content (no shandy allowed). My Centurion 2.1% is the one to beat. :P

You don't buy cheap lager, just rent it for the evening

in at one end, out at t'other :o

Anyway, what's the point in this thread, shouldn't we be looking for the best deal on beer that is actually drinkable?

  • Can you still buy !!!!!! like Norseman and Ace in newcassle?
    Vedra Nativa

Norseman & Ace lager are exactly what I'm trying to find, now that the slop Vaux used to produce is no more.

Here's a run down of what I've found so far, for can's of 4:-
    Skol - 3.2% £2.99, Everwhere
    Spar Lager - 3% £2.79, Spar
    Country Man Bitter - 2.1% 98p, Tesco
    Crown Bitter - 2% £1.29, Sainsbury's
    Tesco Value Bitter - 2.1% 97p, Tesco
    Castille Lager - 2% £2.29, Sainsbury's
    Tesco Value Lager - 3% £1.27, Tesco
    Flint Lager - 2.1% £1.27, Somerfield
  • The Norseman that was sold in newcassle was !!!!!! for gullible jordys. If you really want some, i'd suggest taking a trip to Scandanavia where its originally from.

Ace was brewed by Fed at Dunston.

And to add to your list, here's some corkers, that out do Vauxs' 'slop' for worst lager by a country mile, that were brewed by Scottish & newcass oops, Scottish Courage brewery:

    Frisk
    McEwans
    Kestrel
    Harp
    Vedra Nativa
  • Can’t deny that that S&N have been the master at producing (and still does) some of the most !!!!!! poor quality flavoured water available over the years, but that’s the point of this posting to find the cheapest lager. In both price and in quality.

Then I can remember my early days drinking cheap lager and doing the following things that have only become recently or still not available in Mackem Land:-
    • Listen to a local Radio station
    • Eat in KFC
    • Visit a Cathedral
    • Go to a Cinema
    • Ride the Metro system
    • A rail link to the capital
    • Flying from an Airport
    • Watch Premiership and European Football
