What can I buy a 2 year old for his christening?

I am going to be a Godmother for a friends 2 year old son in 2 months time. I have never been to a Christening of a child of that age it's always been babies so I have bought some silver usually. This boy is very boisterous and a little silver keepsake is so not him he'd probably break it or use it as a football. He is like this all the time :j
Any ideas of what I could buy him nothing too expensive as the rest of the world money is very tight at the moment.

Hello,
It is very difficult when it's not for a baby. However, for my God son, I got him a silver book mark/page marker from the jewellers. It wasn't very expensive (we also got it engraved) and he is also a 'boisterous boy', he does like reading and having longer stories read to him, so the book mark is now well used and not being stored in a cupboard like so many other things do.
Someone else got him a child's size silver cutlery set, which again gets used - I think these are quite reasonable now.
Not very imaginative I'm afraid - but a couple of ideas.0 -
What about an antique of the future, DD bought her god daughter a teapot, one of a limited number, so it will increase in value, however the teapot is rather attractive to look at whilst the value is growing.:hello:What goes around - comes around

Nothing too unusual on here but some ideas anyway.
Photoframes are always nice to have.
Don't get too worried about what the child will do with it, as if you buy something fragile the parents will keep it out of reach anyway.Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0 -
What about a money box or maybe a child`s "Bible stories" book .My children weren`t christened but my mam bought my son this and he has treasued it to this day and he is now 340

I'm going to be godmother next month and we've bought a terramundi jar and had it personalised with the child's first name and Christening date and I've also bought a plain white handmade album which I intend to add things in like name meaning, date he was born, weight at birth, details of star sign, prices of basic things when he was born (2006), number ones when he was born such as song and book, key events on his birthday and year of birth, page for family tree, a few pages for his mum and dad to complete such as handprints, photo of him on the day of the Christening.. I haven't thought it all through properly yet but need to get started with it really! Hopefully it will be something he can look back on with interest in years to come.:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0

Rainmac, I made a very similar book for my niece when she was Christened and am currently making one for her sister for her christening next Sunday. For the first one I included the news by month of the year she was born (2006), sporting news from that year, what films were popular, things that happenned in the family that year, important scientific discoveries (both her parents are scientists!). I don't have all the pictures I used but I can forward you the information I found if it would be any use? I also made a mix CD of the music that was popular at the time.
This time I also plan to include the costs of things as money seems to have been quite important this year, and it wasn't something I thought about at the time.0 -

There is a book on the freebies site at the moment that has the childs name throughout and his address etc., not saying it should be his main present but may be worth a look as an extra?!! I think it actually may have a postage charge.0

I bought this for my godson;

He absolutely loves it. It's his little chair in the sitting room.
They also do a rocking chair which is very cute;
