Software purchase, whats the law?

in I wanna buy it or do it
my boss bought some software which has turned out to be utter rubbish, it cost £130 and originally was very buggy after 2 weeks of errors i have finaally got it installed and produced my first floor plan, it looks very shabby not at all professional and i just dont like the guy at the company.

Do i have a right to my money back within 7 days? 14 days? what is the law in relation to software purchase online?

    By online purchase do you mean bought online or downloaded online?

    I would guess that bought would be returnable and refundable (see software manufacturers website?) but downloads are an unknown quantity and possibly illegal in the 1st place.

    It was purchased online then a download link and serial number are provided by email.

    What do you mean by may be illegal anyway?

    Some less scrupulous businesses out there set up sites that offer a cheap download of a good program/software, but what they are doing is copying it illegally and then selling it multiple times from the same origional and maybe providing the same or no serial number at all.

    Which company did you use?

    Only some are fraudulant of course, but worth checking out!?

    the software i bought was called floorplan pro, all looks to be in order in terms of their legality to sell the software.

    I just want to know what right i have if the software is crap! I emailed them the same day as purchase telling them how cack it was but it has dragged on now for weeks. i have asked for our money back a load of times but they keep saying no.
    thinking about just suing them online but would like to know what our rights are.

    Sorry, cant really help on the legal side, but thought you may be able to get some money back if they are fraudulent and shopped :rolleyes:

    have you tried contactin local trading standards - surely if the software is nt up to the job then its the same as any other product you can buy, whether it be online or in a shop
