Concerns with dog smell in house i'm about to rent...

A fellow moneysaver said i'd have more luck posting this on this board rather than the one I posted in....I'm in the middle of moving from one rented property to another. The house i'm moving into to (beginning of Oct) is lovely and in a reputable area. However the previous tenant had dogs and didn't care for them very well. My landlord has ripped out the carpets and between us are going to redecorate/paint etc. Having new wooden floor and carpets. It has a concrete floor not floorboards. I'm really hoping that the dog smell will go. I don't have any pets myself (unless you can class my two children as pets
). Anyway has anyone else experienced this situation and can anyone recommend anything else to disguise/get rid of the smell other than what i've said?

Hi there,
we had this in our last house, we moved in with dogs but the previous owner had one dog which we could still smell.
We scrubbed the concrete floor with hot water with washing up liquid in and lots of vinegar.
Make sure that you leave it to dry properly for several days as this is very important.
We scrubbed then wiped up the excess liquid and then wiped with a clean damp cloth with just a small amount of vinegar on.
Afterwards all the smell had gone.
