Stuck for staff

hi, was wondering if anyone has used this online agency for one-off promotional work? They ask for 5 pounds for a downloadable manual which you have to use before they register you...not sure if its a scan or not?

  • Hi I would trust it myself. I am registered with People People and they have loads of work all over the country so maybe try them. They dont charge anything

  • Sorry I meant to say I wouldn't trust it.
  • I have had a fair bit of work through them. I registered with them after visiting one of their open days.

You need to have some understanding of promotions and that to get registered. I have been doing if for a long time and find it really useful. Their messageboard has a lot of useful information on how to get more work.

    I would recommend.

(BTW, just looked at the guide thing...that is for people with no experience)

I have been a member for 3 years & so are all my friends who are involved in promotions.

I have always found everything about the site very useful and I would recommend them.

Hope this helps, the site has really helped me.

I have just spotted a job advert from People People on the Stuckforstaff job board as follows...

Team Leader required with IT Skills

Training 12th & 13th March approx 5 days a week Week 1 and 2 London based Week 3 Midlands Week 4 North West Week 5 Scotland
£96 per day plus overnight subs £18 for any overnight stays

I have been booked by them before, it was quite last minute as they spotted my free dates on stuckforstaff, the pay was ok -not great, but the REALLY good thing about People People is they pay quick..about 1 or 2 weeks after the job which is rare.

I am not sure if you have to be experienced as when they booked me I had already done quite a lots of jobs. Maybe they would prefer experience for this particular one as it is team leader, maybe depends on your previous experiences?
  • I know of a really decent experiential marketing company who use it when they need staff for food promotions. I'm pretty sure it's legit - I hope it is anyway as my company advertises our food safety courses on the jobs board.
  • Had a confusing experience with this website...sort of...a few months ago. I received an application form in the post for a promotions company that i'd never heard of. When I contacted them to ask why they'd sent it to me, they said they got my details from the Stuck For Staff website - which i'm not a member of?

Ive been on SFS since 2005. Its great but its more like a portal for all things promo related. It gives you a massive list of all the best UK agencies, theres a message board and lots of job alerts that you wouldnt get otherwise. SFS is not the employer, the independant agencies are that are listed on the site. Sort of like MSE except for promotions.

I did this type of work when I was at uni and when modelling was quiet. Really good fun and well paid too.

I still keep my hand in and do the odd wee job as well as working full time. This Sunday Im doing a job at the Glasgow Skycycle event through PeoplePeople! Been registered with then for 3 years and this is my first job off tehm lol. They aint one of my regular agencies.

If anyone has any questions, drop me an email and Ill try and help. Im going back to uni full time next month so I'll be returning to this line of work then.

Candour Field Marketing a re another good agencya s are MBA and Mash Marketing.

    Cheers!

    I agree with you JanineB,

I would highly recommend StuckForStaff, I am having a break from the world of promo work at the moment as I have just had a baby :)
As soon as I am ready to go to back (after stretching out my maternity leave as much as possible) I will be on their everyday finding out what is going on.

All of the main agencies use it, in my opinion StuckForStaff is a must if you are a promo person and what to keep in the loop. Trust me, it was hard going calling agencies every week before SFS - cant believe I have been doing it that long to remember those days....now I do feel old!
