Free Tom Robinson music downloads

When I was growing the eighties I was a big Tom Robinson fan. In particular I liked the 'Hope and Glory' album, that's the one with 'War Baby' and 'Atmospherics (Listen to the Radio)' on it. In a recent fit of nostalgia I decided that it might be nice to revisit this album but my old 33rpm in the garage is no use anymore as I haven't got a record player (ask your parents kids). I looked around the web to see if I could buy it on CD without much success, I could only find odd ones at very high prices. Then I discovered Tom's website. It appears that in protest at the amount of money his record company has been making from his music he's decided to give it away for free! Not only was Hope and Glory available free of charge but it also came with seven bonus tracks including b-sides and 12" versions (ask your parents again kids). There are several other studio albums available as well as various live recordings going back to seventies and including '2-4-6-8 Motorway', 'Yuppy Scum' and 'Glad to be Gay' along with other classics. There's also an interesting album called 'Faith, Folk & Anarchy' which is a collaboration with Martyn Joseph (of 'Dolphins Make Me Cry' Fame) and Steve Knightley.

Well worth a listen (if you've never heard of Tom try 'War Baby', 'Atmospherics' and 'Living in a Love Town' to start) and if you feel guilty about fleecing an artist then there's an option to 'make a donation'.

The fridge is empty, the walls are damp, there's no hot water
And I look like a tramp and tramps like us

Thanks for the pointer! I was a member of his fan club in 1980 and saw him at Ronny Scotts about 10years ago. He's a lovely man.
I remember when I first heard war baby. It blew me away it was so good.
But if ever I stray from the path I follow
Take me down to the English Channel
Throw me in where the water is shallow And then drag me on back to shore!
'Cos love is free and life is cheap As long as I've got me a place to sleep
