We went to the cinema today and nearly everyone in front of us showed their phone to pay for their seats. The attendant said if you text Orange on 241 you get one free ticket if you pay for a one.
We are on O2 but could we have an Orange sim card and just use it for the cinema tickts?
If it is possible how do I do it? Sorry if it is obvious to everyone else but we are a bit slow with technology!!!

Yes, you could, just make sure your phone is unlocked so you can use your pay as you go orange sim, and just text 241, you get an immediate response and just show the reply to the cinema, I think it cost 35p a text though so you will need credit initially on the phone, but you will save this the first time you get your two for one cinema ticket.0

Yes, you could buy an Orange SIM card and stick some credit it on it. basically you text to 241, it costs about 35p (from memory) and you get a code back which gets you two cinema tickets for the price of one. Your O2 phone would need to be unlocked to take an Orange SIM card though, not all are.0

Thank you both for the information I have applied online to Orange for a one but how do I know if our phone's are unlocked?0

You don't always get an immediate response as the network gets busy - worth doing an hour or more before you go to the cinema.
When you put the new sim in your phone if it registers the Orange network and gets signal, you can make a call etc then your phone is already unlocked. If it tells you sim error or you get no signal in a good dsignal area then its not unlocked.0 -
I think that it the Orange offer applies only on Wednesdays.
To find out whether or not the the phone is sim locked is to try a different network sim & see if it works. Eg if you have an O2 phone, then try with Vodafone or Orange or Mobile to check if it works.
Normally O2 contract phones are not locked.
I am on O2 contract & all the phones i have had were not locked.0 -
some orange shops are doing a good deal this week. free nokia phone when u buy £20 credit on pay as u go. should soon cover the cost of the other persons ticket as a text cost 10p means you can go on pictures on wednesdays 200 times. also when u register Ur phone u get £5 credit on top. bargain:rotfl: given up on tesco do a lot os boots offers. but weekends are now in orange trackside b. lol

Quick Question....
We don't have an Orange SIM but we do have Orange as our ISP at home. Can I still claim free tickets and if so how?

broadband customer?
If you're an Orange home broadband or dial-up customer you can enjoy Orange Wednesdays too - you just need to register.
1.find your unique user name
First off you'll need to register with us, using your unique user name. Your unique user name is the part of your Orange email address that comes after the '@' symbol. So if your email address is john@smith.orangehome.co.uk, your unique user name is smith.orangehome.co.uk. Or if your email address is karen@slade.freeserve.co.uk, your unique user name is slade.freeserve.co.uk. The same applies to Wanadoo email addresses.
2.register for Orange Wednesdays
Text 'JOIN' and your unique user name (the bit after the @), to 80241 to register.
So for example, JOIN name.orangehome.co.uk
3.get your 2 for 1 cinema tickets
We'll text you back, confirming you're registered, and that's it - you're done. You won't have to go through any of this again.
To get your tickets, just text the word 'FILM' to 80241 and we'll send your text tickets* straight to your phone. Simple.
4.enjoy the film
When you get to the cinema, just show your text ticket to the nice man or lady at the box office, and you'll get your 2 for 1 cinema tickets.
*text tickets cost 35p0 -
