Free 2 month trial of DVD rental service(merged)

Hi all,
I came across this on their FAQs on the site and thought I'd post it to allay any fears.
I'm just finishing a blockbuster trial so thanks - I will be signing up to this one next! Mymoviestream weren't great - but it's still movies for free right?!
Thanks.
My DVD(s) seem to be lost in the post. What do I do?
All information about dispatches & returns is clearly shown in your account when logged in to the Outnow website and it is your responsibility to notify us in the event that a disc or batch of discs goes missing. This is very rare and you must allow at least 4 postal days before reporting a lost shipment outbound or inbound, as stipulated by the Royal Mail.
If the shipment has still not arrived, simply log in and go to the My List page, and click "Report a problem". From there you can report your disc(s) as lost.
Please note that, while your Membership remains active, you will not be liable for the cost of discs lost in the post so long as you notify us within 30 days of the postage of any item(s) that you think are lost, and that you complete and return the simple Lost Disc Form that we provide, should you be required to do so.I know I'm in my own little world, but it's ok - they know me here!0 -
Beware - I had a trial with MyMoviestream and they were APPAULING. They rebranded to OutNow fairly soon after I had very severe words with them about charges they wouldn't stop taking.
There is a whole thread here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=943051&highlight=mymoviestream about how bad they were.
Don't sign up unless you want months of charges after you cancel.0 -
After the reading the very length (part slanging-match) thread (url in above post), I am now very worried.
I have rung them to cancel and have had no issues there so far, except the 'free trial' has 'validated' my card by taking £10.00 out that is 'pending'. So it isn't showing on my statement but i am less £10.00 for the next few days!! What if that was my last £10.00 until my next pay day?!
Is this the start of problems to come?
I have used LoveFilm in the past and had no problems with them... i may go back to them because so far, OutNow have been slow to send out discs, and sent out discs in the wrong order (tv series). If it's free and I can eat it, I'll have it!0 -
I STRONGLY urge people not to sign up with this company. Even if you stay beyond the free trial period (which it appears to be incredibly hard to leave after) they seem to live by the motto 'The customer is always wrong'.
I regretfully signed up for a cheap 15 month 'pay up front' offer last year, and have had many problems in getting my choice dvds sent out. If you ring up to question anything, be prepared to be told off for your cheek.
Please DON'T be fooled by the seemingly good introductory offer - this is a dreadful company which deserves to go out of business.0 -
Flickering Ember - is it possible you could change your first post to inform people of the MMS/ON report thread - I worry that people will just read the first post and not the responses and sign up without knowing what they're getting themselves into.0

Unfortunately I have signed up for a 2 month free trial with Outnow, so far I have had no dvds, the 1st 2 that were sent out never arrived so I reported them lost in post, they said they would send 2 more from my list and send a lost in post claim form. Neither of which I have received. I have emailed them this morning saying how disappointed I am in their service and they sent me this ridiculous email back:
"Thank you for your email.
We have been trying to contact you in regards to your account as a matter of urgency. We have been in contact with your local Police station and need to speak to you ASAP.
We have been trying to contact you on (my mobile no.).
Please contact us ASAP on 0800 652 8433"
I am wary to cancel the account as I have heard people have been changed when doing so, so I have removed all dvds from my list so they can send me anymore discs that will "get lost in the post". Can anyone advise what I should do? Have the feeling they will try and charge me for these "lost" discs...0 -
gertiegirl,
I would suggest a) checking your address details are correct on the site and then b) calling them and see what they say.
Sounds ridiculous if you ask me.
Also see my post above quoting their lost disc policy and quote it back to them if necessary.
I've used them for their 2 month trial and it's been ok. They're very slow at sending and receiving discs and never send my top or even second choice (unlike lovefilm and blockbuster) - however it's been a nice freebie nevertheless.
I will be watching my last 2 this weekend and then cancelling but I would certainly never be a paying customer.
pippitypipI know I'm in my own little world, but it's ok - they know me here!0
