Digilogic DVDH701 Upscaling HDMI DVD Player £19.97

I hope this has not been posted before, but as I have searched for an upscaling dvd player I noticed this obvious budget one at Tesco Direct and thought it was incredibly cheap having been reduced from £29.97 to £19.97. It is a Digilogic DVDH701 HDMI DVD Player catalogue #: 204-0687 and can be collected in store ("** Currently available in a limited number of locations").

"This Digilogic DVDH701 HDMI upscaling DVD player comes in a silver colour complete with HD upscaling which upgrades standard DVD discs to 1080p quality when connected to a full HD TV via HDMI cable. It also features picture zoom, parental lock and an RGB output. 1 HDMI and SCART socket are included to connect to other audio visual components." http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.204-0687.aspx

Do hope this helps someone though I have actually decided to opt for the upscaling Sony DVP-NS78 from amazon; £44.90 delivered which is another good price too!
I have gained from advice as well as bargains here, so if I can help in any way, I am only too pleased to do so and appreciate your thanks.

  • If your looking for a small bedroom DVD player with HDMI, I'd go for this one instead. A bit more money, but you do get a integrated card reader and USB port.

    I want one as a present for my dad (but am on a tight budget) - he's got a 32" Panasonic capable of going up to 1080p - can I ask what the Philips one is you would recommend? Thanks.

    I think the Philips DVP5980 is the one they do that can output 1080p - the slightly cheaper DVP5960 can only manage 1080i (720p looks better than 1080i on my telly, so I use that). Both have USB ports and will play movies from memory sticks or external hard disks.

    Dixons are currently offering the 5980 for £40 plus £5 delivery;

    There are usually some free delivery codes kicking around for Dixons - worth having a dig around on Google for the current one.

    :)
