  • what about clothes, haircuts, travel, tv licence, water, mobiles? do you have pets? what about things like xmas and birthday presents. I assume you get free housing and pay no council tax?

Sky tv is a definate no in your situation; can you get free broadband at your local library?

Why so many debts to energy companies? I thought you couldnt change provider if you owed money, but I may be wrong.

Are any of the kids in school? or playgroup? are there charges for this
  • I had a go on entitled to.. obviously I have no idea of your real details so I just put in 3 kids, living as single and got the following:
    Tax Credits £7,358.40pa £141.12pw
    Income Support/JSA £3,154.64pa £60.50pw

You will not have to pay Council Tax as you qualify for full Council Tax Benefit. Our calculation is based on you receiving £141.12pw from tax credits.
I would go on there and check, as the figures above arnt much more than you are getting atm, but every little helps. xx
  • i do smoke yes but not even 20 a day i spend £2.20 every 3 days maybe.so yes i could quit as not been a heavy smoker.
my eldest has just started full time school i had his full uniform,p.e things, book bags to buy.
my second child goes to mums and tots 3 times a week with me which cost £1.50 a time
my youngest is 7m old i have nappies, food etc to buy for her
i dont drive nor have a car
the reasons the priority bills have got so much is because when i get my quarterly bill which could be £150 i cant afford to pay that at once i ring them up and ask if i can pay so much a week or month but they dont negociate and tell me a set amount which is too high.which is why i joined edf energy and set up a direct debit to pay £45 a month for gas and electric so i know a set amount is going out each month.
i dont really spend too much money on clothes shoes,i sometimes shop off ebay for clothes for me and the kids as seems pointless to buy brand new for stupid prices when you can get decent for cheaper.
i currently pay £8 for a weekly bus ticket to go to town, mums and tots and the kids grandparents etc
we dont have holidays, trips away as i can really afford it, we have days out but once in a while
the tv i cant really stop paying as it was from homebuy ive nearly paid it off now only £200 left and if i send the tv back i lose over £500 so its not worth it.
yes i agree i could cancel sky and get a freeview box which im looking into now

its not the fact im struggling payin these debts but its the fact of how ive sorted them out payment plans etc and still getting hassled and the debt just doesnt seem to go down while im paying it and ill be paying these for many years to come
:j proud to be dealing with my debt:j
    debt total 16/09/2008 = £9518.38:eek:

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.
