  • great offer at poundstretcher ive stocked up...on the subject of what u pay for beverages in cafes we once wanted a cup of decaf in morrisons cafe and got handed a plastic spoon and a nescafe decaf jar and paid 80p for the pleasore .it makes u think
    onwards and upwards
  • the one cup tea bags are not that impressive when it comes to taste, nowhere near the quality of the standard typhoo tea bags
  • best befor date Sept 08

That's fine! Best before is far less stringent than Use By (having said that, I often eat stuff that is a day or 2 past its use by date, not had a problem so far. I remember Johnny Maitland eating mouldy bread that he'd toasted on an episode of Tonight (he ate loads of out of date stuff over a 2 week period and wasn't ill once!). These dates are in the retailers interests because they tend to encourage people to throw away perfectly edible stuff...and go and buy it again!

Lower grade teas are used in budget teabags for cost purposes,as you say the best leaves are used in the original Typhoo for a fuller flavour

Poundstretcher in Doncaster is also 99p rather than 49p.
  • £1.10 in Newark poundstretcher !!
Typical -we never get half the things reduced in this area as other areas - Lincoln is just as bad !
  • I would keep checking - have folk had hit and miss with other offers with poundstretcher?

The other offer we have had for a few weeks is three bags of sugar for £2.

Though the three tins of tuna for a £1 has long since dried up - at least a couple of months.

The best leaves get nowhere near a teabag. They are sold as full leaf loose tea (see Imperial Teas in Lincoln)
    something missing

I think buying a good quality loose leaf tea is a good MSE tip. You don't need so much, it tastes much better, is good value and the spent leaves can go straight in the kitchen caddies we'll all be getting for recycling from our councils! I've used those dangly metal tea holders for cups but prefer a single cafetiere (for coffee!). Any small jug would do for a single cup and of course, a tea strainer.
  • Farm Foods are selling "The caring Cuppa tea bags 440 1 cup for £2.99!!!! an excellent brew and comes in biodegradable packaging!!
