If I had to choose between and internet connection and eating, eating would win easily.

Clearly the OP has the opposite opinion.

For the record Paparika I was unemployed for 4 months earlier this year due to illness and a serious operation. Before I'd fully recovered I was back in work because I got off my backside and got myself another job rather than sit and do nothing.

But that doesn't give you the right to tell people to get off their backside, you don't know why there are on JSA, you know nothing of the OP, you just assume.

    Don't forget the saying

Assume take the a s s out of you and me.

There are lots of reasons why people have to at some point in their life rely on state benefits, you admitted yourself that you had to earlier this year.

It does annoy me that there are still people on this forum that spend most of their time on the forum trolling to find and mock someone's misfortune.

I have an immune disease that will kill me, i have to support my son on my own, my life is not a bed of roses, yet i work, i am very lucky, i dare you to mock my misfortune.
Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?

JSA = job seekers allowence, so anyone on JSA would be.... LOOKING FOR A JOB?!?!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

    Hi pinkshoes

Yup i know what JSA is, i work in an environment where i deal with BA everyday.

how do we know OP isn't looking for work,

sorry was angry this morning because of the crass comments made

  • I HAVE been looking for a suitable job, for some time- both online, and going round local firms- preferably something local to keep costs down, and avoid wasteful travel etc..

there is a bare mimnimum of food in the house (dried pasta, frozen peas..) by the time payment is due- any delay causes me even more distress, and hassles / extra charges, when important bills go overdue.

beleive me, i'd rather be working than on the dole. but i have certain standards, and McD type jobs won't help- been there, done that, kept the tshirt..

I asked whether others had experienced delays, just to see if i was not alone.. pity some MSE'ers can't be a little more supportive.

So obviously you're lying about the fact you'd rather be working than on the dole and that you're desperate. If you were as hard up as you claim you are, you'd take anything.

Not to worry, after 26 weeks if they find you a job at McDs or a cleaning job etc and you don't take it, you'll lose your money.

Its just a shame that your benefits advisor couldn't see your post as I'm sure it'd be grounds for a sanction.

says the one thats on the dole rather than getting money from ANY job???

the irony of you saying u have 'standards'. how obsurd! those McD jobs are fine for fast(ish) cash and also career devlopment , i.e, management. same as cleaners... some get like £8 a hr!! i know one dude that started up his own cleaning company off the back of working as a cleaner.

but no lets not 4get u have 'standards' and thats too beneath you. yes your standards are real high...

    *smh*

reminds me of the days in college when i had a sat job in McD's and ALL my mates cussed me and said i was 'a tramp to work there'. they all looked for retail and ovilly didnt get any oh and to make matters worse... used to come into my branch asking for free food... hmm...
  • Not experienced a "processing delay" but did get my JSA claim suspended without any warning as I 'hadn't presented them a wageslip for when I took one days work when offered'.

Filled in all the forms, presented the wageslip, they never received it at the right office. Therefore I was branded a fraudster and liar and my JSA was stopped.

Documents turned up, no apology, just a giro in the post a few days late.
  • I once attended a course on benefits advice run by the CAB. Many of the providers were ex benefits agency staff who had left the job because they were being asked to employ deliberate delaying tactcs on claims and payments.

This helps to cut the welfare bill by preventing those who do not have the knowledge or ability to pursue claims in the face of attempts to delay their claims. In other words, the most vulnerable.
