PPI Question
Dear All
Opinions & advice needed. My girlfriend has an unsecured loan with LTSB. £5500 + £1200 ppi + interest, repayable over 7 years.
I suspect that she may have been mis-sold the ppi (nevermind the extortianate amount). She works via an employment agency and is on a long term assignment with the same client. There is no contract of employment between the client and my girlfriend and as such she has no tenure of employment. To all intents and purposes she is temping! I've read through the LTSB info re the ppi and its so full of exclusions that even if it was cheap it would still be poor value for money. The main exclusion that concerns me relates to casual/temporary employment, the policy will not pay out if you you are in casual/temporary employment. She did inform LTSB of her casual/temporary employment status.
Therefore then has she been mis-sold? If that is the case can it be rectified i.e. get all the premiums back etc.
Look forward to your feedback

It can be done.
I have two loans with TSB.
I wrote a letter for each loan requesting they cancel the PPI
On one loan they have recently refunded me the PPI and in doing so reduced my balance by £1300no questions asked.
The other loan they refused to cancel the PPI so I wrote back and am waiting for a reply as we speak.
T & C's were identical on both loans so I dont know why they have cancelled it on one loan but not the other
I wouldnt bother ringing them - you will get the 'you can only cancel within 30 days of the start of the loan' speech.
They told me that twice over the phone but i wrote in anyway and got the above results.
Give it a go !?
If you have been miss-sold you should have more of a chance of a refund than me.

When did she take out the loan? If it is after the BBC 's Watchdog programme then they would have (or should have) done an affordability statement and a personal review statement and recommendation which she should have been given a copy of.
This document will cover whether she was/is eligible for the PPI or not and reasons given why she decided to take it out.
Second point I would like to make is if she is on a long term assignement to one client (6 months or more continuous) she is deemed under new working regulations not to be a 'temp' and could argue that she is in full time employment.0 -
Thanks to both of you for the advice. I'll pass it on to my girlfriend.

This one had been on the back burner for a while (other things happening). Howver LTSB have caved in and will be repaying the PPI element etc.
