Notice of Dispute letter

Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone has a template letter or something with a good affect. I had an account with T-mobile and on the 11th month I contacted them to cancell it and was told that they would cancell the direct debit and take the remaining payment on the 12th month. I expected everything to go to plan and the line was cancelled so I thought all was well,

Shockingly upon checkin my credit I found a default on my file and I called them and paid it but since it was something like a year later they wont remove it and are saying its my fault. I have contacted Equifax and I am really depressed that this has messed my credit file.

Any help would be much appreciated....

  • In what way do they say you were at fault?
In their view do you still owe them something?

Well they didnt take the remaining amount by direct debit but in all honestly I was not aware of that. I received no letters from them and if I did I probably never bothered to open them as I just thought it was junk. I owed them a measly amount like 86£ and so they defaulted me.

I have since paid them that amount and they updated the file saying satisfied. I tried to get them to correct information but to no avail and I am now really desperate.

It might be a good idea to make sure a letter is junk before you bin it.
Although you say it was "a measly" amount that was not paid on time would you think it was "a measly" amount if you were overcharged by £86.

Your account now shows that your payments were late but were in due course paid.

If you can prove that a DD was in place and funds were in place and the lender could have and should have taken the money when it was due then they would be likely to retract the defaults.

I also think that you and not they actually cancel the Direct Debit

  • I appreciate your advise but they did confirm that they will cancell the DD and for this I am 100% certain, so certain that I just recently cancelled another contract recently with 3 and I have just been advised the same thing.

The reason I say measly was because normally my monthly bill was in the region of £200 and £400 but anyway I will just have to put some pressure with my solicitor to resolve this matter.
