Not sure if this is in the right place, so please move if I've got it wrong. Thanks! Just searched kelkoo for a cd, and found it cheapest at Bangcd. went to site to order it, and on page asking for card details, no padlock or 'https' came up, so didn't bother! Anyone else used this site ok? I'm sure it's fine, but I've been told to always check the padlock comes up. Thanks!

What you say is not entirely correct, though I can see how you were misled. They ask you to enter your name/address on an ordinary page but then take you to the Worldpay site which is obviously secured by HTTPS.
However, as you can buy HTTPS very cheaply, it wouldn't have hurt them to have it for the name/address page too, just to give the customers confidence. But the website does look like it was designed by a moron. If you enter your address as being in London, it still won't let you proceed unless you enter a county. If they can't be bothered to put up a good website, how much confidence can you have in their service?Eh?? I give up!! Towel is getting thrown in here!0 -
they are rubbish - dont use!0

Bang CD are rubbish. I ordered a cd that was stated as 'in stock' on 12th December and only received it on 30th December. When I wrote and complained at the delay - it was supposed to have been a Christmas present for my husband - I received an apology but that was it. I felt that it wouldn't have hurt them to offer a voucher for the inconvenience experienced. In future I will stick to Play.com.0

Most companies (whether mail order or online) generally insist that an item ordered is not 'lost' until at least 28 days have elapsed.
As you received your item in 18 days I think an apology was in order - which you got!
You must know that there are postal delays every Xmas - do you know whether it was Bank cd or the Post Office/ courier that are to blame?0 -

I am not objecting to postal/delivery delays. I am objecting to the fact that the item was listed as 'in stock' when it patently wasn't. Had it been made clear to me that the item was unlikely to be delivered prior to Christmas I would have taken my custom elsewhere - as I will in the future.0 -
I think it does not matter whether in stock or not if that close to Xmas.I would imagine that these companies orders multiply by 10 at that time of year and then someone has to deliver it.
Personally I would never order anything that is time sensitive later than first week of December.0 -

Following this logic we would excuse all poor service in shops or on websites in the run up to Christmas just because it is the festive season, which would be ludicrous. As I stated in my previous post I am not complaining about delivery times, the item I ordered was delivered in two days. I am not even complaining about the item being 'out of stock'. I am just annoyed that the item was advertised as 'in stock' when it wasn't - in fact it was never shown as 'out of stock' on the website or I might have been alerted to the fact. In my opinion that was misleading and not acceptable.ejones999 wrote:Personally I would never order anything that is time sensitive later than first week of December.
Fair enough, we all have our own level of what we think are reasonable expectations of service and mine are obviously completely different to yours. In my experience, most reputable companies will deliver within a week (if that) and they will also keep you posted as to the status of your order. I placed orders for over 30 items for Christmas and they were all delivered within a week - except for the BangCd order, which took 18 days.
I posted in a spirit of goodwill to warn people that I had experienced unsatisfactory service from this company. We are all on here to help ourselves and each other get better value for money.
Good luck in all your future internet purchases.0 -

I had a similar experience as this with HMV.co.uk, it was the cheapest for a CD I was after, it said 'in stock'. I thought thats great so ordered it. Looked a few days later and not in stock. Now surely a company must allocate the stock to orders once the order is made? At HMV they clearly don't. And if they have a shortfall they should enable you to take some voucher into your local store to buy it at web prices. :mad:0
